Facilitation Training

The role of facilitator is critically important to the success of any group effort. Facilitation inputs can be provided by group members themselves, by facilitators from within the organisation but not the group, or by external facilitators.

To be effective facilitators have to be able to step back and observe the ongoing process at work in groups, spot barriers to understanding and consensus and intervene in ways that will enable the group members to overcome blocks to constructive problem solving.
Above all facilitators must work with groups in such a way as to encourage the group to take ownership of their problems as well as their successes.

We provide a range of training courses for facilitators including:

  • An extensive programme over three to five two-day sessions (covering facilitation skills, conflict resolution skills, communications and influencing skills, and training and presentation skills) leading to accreditation as Workplace Facilitator under the FETAC system.
  • Shorter two to three day programmes aimed at equipping participants with the basic skills that will help them to help groups immediately.
  • Training courses in facilitation skills for managers and others who do not intend to act as facilitators in a formal capacity but who want to manage and work in a more facilitative style.
