Third Party Neutral Support
Whether conflict arises between individuals, groups or organizations
there is sometimes a need for neutral third party assistance to bring
about a resolution to the conflict.
The essence of mediation is helping parties to negotiate their own settlements
to disputes. Sometimes, however, when parties find it impossible to reach
agreement themselves they ask a third party neutral to decide what the
outcome of a dispute should be.
The types of third party neutral services that we have provided include:
-
Chairing negotiations between the management of a financial services organization and a group of trade unions. The bargaining agenda included strategic changes as well as pay and conditions of employment. The objective was to reach a comprehensive agreement in-house and to develop relationships that would help support the upcoming strategic changes into the future.
-
Chairing pay negotiations between a financial services organization and a major trade union representing significant categories of employees. The agreed process provided for the parties submitting written and oral arguments. In the absence of agreement on the central issue of pay increases the chair effectively arbitrated and produced a report with recommendations which the parties both accepted.
-
Mediating conflicts between individuals and groups in the workplace where the emphasis is less on traditional sources of conflict such as pay, change and conditions of employment and more on conflicts based around interpersonal relationships, accusations of bullying, and work organization.
